Top Open Universities in India
In our society there are students who are unable to do their regular courses for various kinds of reasons related to family or whatsoever. For these kinds of students to complete their study distance education is offered to them by various educational institutes which are known as Open Universities. This course may be in Academic, Technical and Professional subjects as per choice of the student.
After completing the course students do get the degrees and also there is a scope for diploma also. The course may of undergraduate, postgraduate or any other program like doctoral etc. as per choice of the student and scope in institutes (Open Universities).
Regarding the course most important aspect is the council which controls all the activities in India related to distance education. The council is New Delhi based and is known as Distance education Council of India (DEC). It maintains the standards of the institutes or open universities offering this kind of education. The council encourages the conventional universities and state government to establish the scope for Distance education and open centers for it. For this purpose they also provide financial help.
Thus, the ultimate goal of the DEC is to facilitate and promote the distance education in India.
At present there are 15 Open Universities providing distance education in India and they are:
