About the University
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), named after the Prime minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, was opened in the year 1985. The Head Quarter of IGNOU is located at New Delhi. This university has created record in providing distant education in various disciplines to the students all over the world.

The Bachelor of Arts program of the University is one of the most sought for program. This degree to a pass out is equivalent to the passport for a number of higher education paths in any of the Universities. On obtaining this an individual will be eligible to proceed for his Masters in the discipline. Apart from providing the degree this education programme extinguishes a very basic social obligation to the country.

Eligibility
The students, those are seeking admission to this course must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination.

Evaluation
The weightage of continuous component varies in the range of 20%-30% and the Term end component carries 70-80% weightage. The university carries out examination through its 700 (approx) examination centers spread throughout the world.

Assignments
The course is expected to be completed within a period of three years normally. But in some cases as per the subject choice, the duration may go up to six years.

Project Work
The project work of the graduation courses is divided on the subject to subject basis. Completion of the projects within stipulated time frame is a must for each individual. Project work in a discipline carries a portion of the total marks of the course in total.

Qualifying Criteria
It is mandatory to get 30% in the internal assessment and examinations. Further it is also required to get 30% in the external assessments. And finally, 40% on overall aggregate is a minimum requirement to complete the course successfully.
