Qualification:
The candidates should have a Post Graduate degree in the concerned subject & registered for M.Phil/Ph.D in recognized University/Institute/College.

The applications in the prescribed format attached may be sent to Mr. JOGINDER, DEPUTY SECRETARY, (SA-III), UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION, BAHADUR SHAH ZAFAR MARG, NEW DELHI-110002 duly forwarded by the Registrar/Director/Principal and competent authority of the Universities/Institutions/Colleges where the fellow desires to undertake research work latest by 20th March, 2011 (non-extendable). The candidates may also go through UGC website www.ugc.ac.in for detailed terms & conditions also.

About University Grants Commission (UGC)
The University Grants Commission (UGC) is the statutory body that help maintains the coordination and determination for setting-up the standard of university education. It came into existence in the year 1945 on the recommendation of sergeant Report. Hence, it acts as an advisory body to the government & institution on subject related to higher education services.
UGC established on 28 December, 1953 under the chairmanship of Shri Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Minister of Education in the Government of India. The head-office of UGC is located at Bahadur Shah Safar Marg in New Delhi, with two additional bureaus operating from Feroze Shah Road and the South Campus of the University of Delhi.

However, UGC has six regional centers at Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bhopal, Guwahati and Bangalore. The main aim of the UGC is to systematically structure the plan and also setting up of the system of technical education in the country.


Apart from this, the University Grants Commission has authorized to conduct NET examination for the recruitment of professor, lecturers and teachers in various institutes & colleges.  In addition to this, it also grants recognition for Indian Universities. Moreover, it helps with funding solutions colleges and Universities that are recognized by the Indian government.

University Grants Commission –UGC is the only agency in the country that channelizes the network between the State and Central Governments, universities and higher educational institutions. UGC also conduct various faculty development and quality assurance program that help them to acknowledge and rate the academic excellence of universities and affiliated institutions throughout the country.
