IIIT Delhi BTech (IT) Admission Syllabus Counselling merit list date form


Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT Delhi)

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT Delhi) was created as a State University by an act of Delhi Government (The IIIT Delhi Act, 2007) empowering it to do research and development and grant degrees.
The Institute began with its first batch of 60 B.Tech. students in 2008. Since then, it has come a long way with nearly 20 faculty members specializing in diverse areas of Computer Science, and nearly 250 students consisting of 3 batches of B. Tech., 1 batch of M. Tech. and 2 batches of Ph.D. students. In a relatively short time, it has earned a good reputation in India and abroad for being a center of quality education and research in IT. AICTE has recognized us as an Institute of National Importance, along with the other IIITs.

BTech (IT) Program

Eligibility 
A candidate who has secured 80 percent or more marks in aggregate and 80% or more in Mathematics in class XII from CBSE/ICSE board or equivalent is eligible for appearing in the entrance test. However if the result of 10+2 is not declared by the respective board the student can sit for the test , but at the time of counselling he/she will have to produce the certificate of class 10+2 result fulfilling the eligibility criteria. If the board has more than five subjects, the best five subjects will be considered for computing the aggregate.
No candidate without proof of 80% in aggregate and 80% in Mathematics will be entertained for admission even if he/she qualifies in the entrance test

Age Criteria
A candidate should be less than 25 years of age as on 1st October 2011.

Application Procedure:

A candidate (from Delhi as well as from outside Delhi) who satisfies the eligibility criteria must apply by filling the online form (this is the only way to apply). Take a print out of the filled form, paste a recent passport size photograph, and send it with a original copy of challan for Rs. 500 (Delhi candidates), Rs. 250 (outside Delhi candidates) to the address given below. As the application form requires the transaction number (mentioned on bank challan), a candidate must have the transaction number ready before filling the application form online.

Each candidate must keep a copy of the completed application form, which is needed for appearing in the test (for Delhi candidates) and at the time of counseling (for outside Delhi candidates). The candidates who are selected through the entrance test will have to show, at the time of counseling, the original documents such as mark sheet for class XII, proof of residency, etc. Anyone found not satisfying the requirements or found having misrepresented the facts is liable for cancellation of his/her candidature.

Syllabus:

The entrance test will test for comprehension, quantitative thinking, and logical thinking. As it is a general aptitude test, there is no defined syllabus. Some sample questions will be available later on the Institute website. The duration of the test will be about 3 hours.

Preparation for merit list:

1. Candidates getting higher marks in the entrance test shall rank higher.
2. In case of a tie, the candidate with higher marks in XII Mathematics shall rank higher.
3. In case of a tie in the above two, the candidate with higher aggregate in XII board exam shall rank higher.
4. In case of a tie in all of the above cases, the candidate older in age shall rank higher.
Merit list for outside Delhi candidates will be based on the rank obtained by the candidates in AIEEE exam and there will be no test for the candidates for outside Delhi Seats.

Counselling:

During counselling, admissions will be offered, in order of the merit list in different categories to candidates who are physically present. When all seats are filled, a waiting list will be prepared only of candidates who are physically present. Later, only candidates from the waiting lists prepared during counseling will be offered admission against any vacancies created.

Fees: 

TUITION FEES Rs. 1,00,000/- per annum (for two semesters)
CAUTION MONEY Rs. 5,000/- one time and refundable
HOSTEL + MESS FEES Rs. 15,000/- approx. per annum (while at transit campus)

Please note that :
 Tuition fee will increase to Rs. 1,25,000 from 2012
 Hostel and mess fees are as per NSIT authorities. This fees will substantially increase when we move to permanent campus.

Scholarships
The Institute provides Income Linked Fee Waiver/scholarship of 25% of fees to students against suitable documents of income disclosure. Details are available on the website.

Last date for receipt of complete form 10th June, 2011 (Friday)
Date of entrance test 19th June, 2011 (Sunday)
Result of test / Merit List (posted on iiitd.ac.in) 28th June, 2011 (Tuesday)
1st counseling 8th July, 2011 (Friday)
2nd counseling (if seats available) 9th July, 2011 (Saturday)
Orientation and registration 26th July, 2011 (Tuesday)

Note: Third counseling may be scheduled if seats get vacated due to drop-outs and IIIT Delhi decides to fill up these seats. However no admissions will be done after the commencement of classes even if some candidates drop out.

Information and instructions for entrance test, results, counseling, orientation, etc will be posted from time to time on the Institute’s website. That is the only official method by which such information will be disseminated.
