Gauhati University
In 1948, the first university was established in North East India which was named as Gauhati University. This university is situated in Jalukbari area of western part of Guwahati city in Assam. It has received four star rating by National Assessment and Accreditation Council or NAAC. Currently 183 colleges are affiliated to it and more are on the way to become affiliated. The university campus has small hilly area on its southern side, and on the northern side, mighty river Brahmaputra is flowing. The Gauhati University Campus has very beautiful surrounding. The campus area of Gauhati University has been developed into kind of Small Township and is known as ‘Gopinath Bardoloi Nagar’. More than 5000 people are now residing at the campus including 3000 students who are living at hostels.
The Gauhati University has 200 residence halls apart from those of teachers, employees and officers. The university campus has all the basic amenities such as water supply, internal roads, health services, street lighting, guest houses, a branch of State Bank of India, Post an Telegraph offices, a Market, parks, canteen, playgrounds, auditorium etc. it even has one indoor stadium built specially to encourage the students. The university is strategically located from at the distance of 10 km. from Borjhar International Airport and at very short distances from railway station, police station and national highway no. 37. The Gauhati University is very easily accessible from anywhere in Assam city. A large number of bus services are provided for students coming at university from various parts of the city.
To make internal processes of the university faster, the Gauhati University has automated it by using kalingasoft’s education ERP solution which has automated all the university processes related to financial, academic and administrative departments. This has allowed students to interact with university more easily and in a hassle free way.
