Bhavan’s college was established in 1946 by Dr. Vallabhai Patel and Dr. K. M. Munshi. The first Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru described the college as Mini India. Bhavan’s college is located at Andheri, Mumbai, India. The College is differentiated into three parts, namely Haji Rashid Jaffer College of Commerce, Bhavan’s MegjiMathradas College of arts and NarrondassManordass Institute of science. The college campus covers around 45 acres of area. It is known for the sports activityand also has huge basketball and volleyball courts. Bhavan’s college has Botanical garden which is major attraction of college. Every year the college host one annual program named as O2.

Bhavan’s college is affiliated to Mumbai University and provides under graduate, post graduate and doctorate level courses. College provide under graduate course like B. Sc. in Mathematics, Physics, computer science, statistics, electronics, Bio technology, biochemistry, chemistry, genetics, and microbiology, B.com (regular), B.com(computer science), B. com (Honors) and Bachelor of computer application. The Post graduate courses offered by Bhavan’s College includeM. Sc. microbiology, M. Sc. computer science, M. Sc. biochemistry and Master in Business administration.  Bhavan’s college has nearly about 1080 seats for science department, 360 seatsfor arts, 560 seatsfor commerce, 100 seats for electronics, 75 seats for computer science and 60 seats for Information technology.

The science department consists of four specious and well equipped laboratories to conduct practical of Botany, biotechnology and genetics. Bhavan’s College provides study material and journals to the students, in recent years, 24 students participated in projects like biodiesel, vermicompost, organic farming, etc. The department of management studies was established in 2002-03 and the intake of this department is only 60 students and the course is accorded by All India Council for Technical Education. The department is also affiliated to Osmania University. The college has total 252 computers in eight laboratories which are connected with Internet and Backup facility. Better quality of amenities, educated staff is what a college makes great and surely Bhavan’s college is one of them.
