Delhi University is one of the oldest universities in India. It was established in 1922. The Government of India funds Delhi University. Delhi University is located at Delhi, India. Delhi University has two campuses, viz., north campus which is situated in northern Delhi and south campus which is situated in southern Delhi. Its current vice chancellor is Mohammad Hamid Ansari. Delhi University has consistently been improving on its ranking amongst the top universities in the world. Amongst the world’s best universities THES-QS has ranked Delhi University at the three hundred seventy one positions. Both the campuses are well connected with public transportation means like the metro, taxi, etc. The southern campus is well known for its life science departments like Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biology, Plant Molecular Biology, etc. DBT funds the Plant Microbiology Centre at Delhi Southern Campus. The southern Delhi university campus provides doctoral and masters degree programs in Information Technology, Electronics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Bio technology and Plant Molecular Biology. Delhi University boasts of a huge library collection called the Delhi University Library System.  The Delhi University Library System is basically a collection of thirty four libraries. All of these libraries have an subscription to twenty nine electronic databases and an internet connection. Information Literacy Programs are regularly conducted for faculty members, researchers and students by the Delhi University Library System. Delhi University conducts professional degree and diploma courses in various fields like Sciences, Science, Information Technology, Arts, Medical Sciences, Physical Rehabilitation, Commerce and Business Studies, Social Sciences, Applied ,Music and Fine Arts, Mathematical sciences, Law, Ayurvedic & Unani Medicine. A large number of colleges are affiliated to Delhi University. Admissions to these colleges for undergraduate courses are conducted through an entrance examination.
