North Eastern Hill University (NEHU)
North Eastern Hill University or NEHU is I central university which was established in 1973 by a special act by Indian Parliament. The North Eastern Hill University is located at the heart of one of the suburbs of Shillong which is a capital of state of Meghalaya, India. The university was set up with certain goal ‘to spread knowledge by providing various advance research and instructional facilities to students, to pay special attention towards improving the social and economic conditions and welfare of the residents of hill areas of north-eastern region’. Currently university is having two campuses, one at Tura in west garo hills and another one is Shillong.
Many colleges and schools are affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University. Some of them are as follows:

The North Eastern Hill University also has library facility. It has a stunning library comprising of some really good collections of books. All the students, college and university teachers, under-graduate honor students and post graduate students and non teaching staff are the main members of the library. The North Eastern Hill University’s library has more than 1, 95,000 books, 38000 bound periodicals and it is subscribed to 366 Indian and 316 foreign journals.
The jurisdiction area of the university is now extended to the state of Meghalaya, Nagaland and formerly union territories of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. The North Eastern Hill University offers many different types of courses like MBA, Law, B.Tech and so on. The University was awarded the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Chair as award on protective Discrimination for period of 5 years.
