Eligibility:

·          Graduate of any discipline under 10+2+3/4/5 System of any recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks (in part III in the case of Arts and Science degree / in applicable years of study of Engineering or other professional UG degrees). For SC/ST candidates, just a pass is required.

·          Candidates appearing for final examinations of Bachelors / Post Graduate Degree Examinations may also apply irrespective of percentage of marks obtained so far (Subject to final results fulfilling the eligibility criteria).

·          Test score of CAT 2010 is mandatory.

·          For Foreign students (including who are presently studying in Indian Universities) and NRIs CAT score is not required.

·          Intake for the academic year 2011-12 is 92. An additional 14 seats are intended for Foreign and NRI students.

Vellore Institute of Technology is known as VIT University nowadays and is a co-educational university situated at Vellore, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1984, by G. Vishwanathan who works now as chancellor of the university. It is a self-financing institution. It was formerly known as Vellore Engineering collage. It offers many different degree courses. It offers total 15 undergraduate and 31 postgraduate courses.

VIT admits students based on CAT score or based on other equivalent examinations score like XAT or MAT for their MBA course. There is one another criterion for admission that candidates must have a full time degree with or above 60% marks throughout his academic career and that too from any recognized institute. Candidates having some work experience are preferred in admission process. Those who pass these rounds have to undergo various other rounds like group discussions and interviews.

To apply for admission at VIT, one has to fill its form along with the CAT/MAT/XAT score and form should be submitted to Admission officer, VIT University. Application can be obtained by sending a DD (Demand Draft) of Rs.900/- drawn in favour of “VIT University” which is payable to Admission officer at University campus, Vellore form along with request letter or it can also be submitted at VIT administrative office, Chennai. Any of the IIMs plays no role in selection process or in main program.

In or around the month of January of every year, application forms are issued and approximately two and half months are given for submission of forms. After last date of submission, candidates are selected based on their skills as described above and within next 15 days group discussions and interviews takes place. Dates for all processes are declared prior to application dates. In the mid-June actual lectures start.

Many people prefer VIT over other institutes as they provide higher education standards compares to other ones.

The BITS PILANI provides a two year full time MBA course. There are two types of MBA courses that are offered at BITS Pilani, viz. MBA in IT Enabled Services Management and MBA in Engineering & Technology Management. The two year course is split into one and a half year intensive study course and half year industry exposure. BITS Pilani claims that the curriculum is designed to incorporate global awareness, experiential thinking and reflect latest thinking on management education.

Admission to the MBA program is based upon All India Online Admission test.  The All India Admission test comprises of three phases:-

Online Technical Test
The aim of this test is to assess the candidate’s understanding about the concepts of his/her field. This test focuses on computer programming, English language skills, core physics, core mathematics and principles of management. Candidates are also assessed on their first degree subjects.

Management Aptitude Test
This test consists Verbal ability, Data Sufficiency, Logical reasoning, Mathematics and Data Interpretation.

Group Discussion and Interview
Candidates who pass the previous two tests then undergo a group discussion and a personal interview.

Candidates need to download the application form for All India Online Test from www.bitsadmission.com. The application form needs to be filled in accordance with the application brochure.  The application form along with the application fee needs to be sent to BITS Pilani in Rajasthan. The application fee is Rs. one thousand. The Online test is conducted by BITS at Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa. The interview and group discussions are held at Pilani.

The admission fees for the MBA course are Rs twelve thousand which excludes the caution deposit, mess and electricity fee, hostel fee, student aid fund, student’s union fee and the semester fees. All payments need to be made through demand drafts.
