Osmania University is located in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and also known as OU. It is one of the oldest universities in India and first to accept language other than English as its instruction language. It uses Urdu language as its Instruction language. It is well known mainly for Engineering Dept. and Technical Dept. But it also offers other courses in many fields like B.Ed., Arts, Science, Law, Medicine and many other fields.

Osmania University has some percent seats reserved for ST/SC/OBC, also for handicapped and women while giving admissions for B.Ed. course. There are certain criteria for being eligible for B.Ed. course such as candidate should have at least% secured in the respective Master’s/Bachelor’s degree with minimum two subjects from school level taken at graduation level. Admissions are based purely on marks achieved in respective qualifying examination or marks obtained in entrance exam conducted by state governments or university, to whom institution is affiliated.

Andhra Pradesh State council of higher education which is an educational committee set by Andhra state government conducts an entrance exam for candidates those who wish to appear for course. It is called as B.Ed. Common Entrance Test (EdCET). Every candidate has to qualify this test. The course is held for one year (Two semesters). After completing course one has to do teaching practice or internship at any local school for minimum 30 days i.e. 540 hours. A candidate has to choose any two subjects from two groups of school level subjects.

The two groups are as follows:-

Group one: Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Marathi and English.

Group two: Mathematics, Physical Science, Biological science and Social studies.

It also provides B.Ed. course in distance mode. Those, who are currently having Bachelor’s degree and serving in any recognized school located in Osmania University local area and should have at least two years of experience in teaching. The main goal of program is to create competent teachers for secondary and higher secondary schools.
