About University

Thapar University (TU) was established on 8 Oct. 1956. This is a deemed university accredited by NBA (AICTE), NAAC (A Grade) and is also ISO 9001/2000 certified. This is an Engineering College named as Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. This university established in 1985 under the Sec. 3 of UGC Act, of 1956 under notification # F.9-12/84-U.3. The university is known for quality education. University has huge campus area.

University also offers Post-graduate and undergraduate programs in Engineering, Science, Management and Social Sciences, and Doctoral courses in engineering. Campus of Thapar Technology is synonymous with a diverse community which is committed scholarship, entrepreneurship, research and development.

Eligibility:

Admissions for B. Tech courses are on the basis of All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) which conducted by CBSE, New Delhi. The candidate should pass in 10+2 with aggregated of 60% and above marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science at 10+2 or equivalent examination.  

Admission Criteria:

The evaluation of students for B. Tech course is strictly done with the base of merit in the entrance exam which is conducted by CBSE, New Delhi. There are about 700 seats in B. Tech course of Thapar University. 50% seats are reserved for Punjab students and rests of seats are available for the student from outside Punjab. 

Qualifying Criteria:

To qualify in exam student must get marks as follows:

•    Minimum 60% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science at 10+2 level

•    Minimum 20% marks in All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) for Open Category

•    Minimum 15% marks in All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) for Reserved Category
