Bharathiar University Admission
In February 1982, Bharathiar University appeared in the state of Tamil Nadu at Coimbatore. The University of Madras was acting as a center of postgraduate in Coimbatore before the Bharathiar University formed. Bharathiar University got the recognition in the year 1985 from the UGC for the purpose of grants. Bharathiar University is named after legendary poet Subramania Bharathi. The university is putting every hard work to furnish the dream of making this university as temple of learning. The objective of the university is to put necessary knowledge, skills, innovative Attitudes, and values among the students of the country who are going to contribute into economic and social responsibility of the nation.
The university is located at Maruthamalai and it has 1000 acres of land, 15 KM away from the city of Coimbatore situated on Maruthamalai Road. Under the university 80 Arts and science colleges, 29 Colleges of education, 1 Physical education college, 1 Air force Management College and 8 Management Institutes are affiliated.
During the last two years, Bharathiar University has taken various initiatives and steps to improve the faculty strength, infrastructure and research activities.
After a gap of 15 years, 50 faculties were recruited and the center for life sciences was built at an estimated cost of 18 crores. Our previous Honorable President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam inaugurated the life science center of the university. The visit was the only visit by any President of the country to the university.
Four Departments of the university has attained approval for UGC special assistance programme and eight more departments have applied for the same. B.P.Ed programme has recently started by the university. Three New departments, English and Foreign Languages department, Bioinformatics Department and Department of nano technology been started by the university. Number of research fellowships has risen from 25 to 60 very rapidly and administration is taking steps to move that number to 120.
