They are either working or not having enough capital to finance their education. The main objection of this university is to touch every area of society. If the person has zeal for further studies just not have to sacrifice it for any of its reasons. Tamil Nadu Open University offers variety of educational programme in various disciplines.
TNOU appeared with the support of Tamil Nadu government in the year 2002 IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) paid huge honor to the government of Tamil Nadu for establishing TNOU. TNOU is located at Chennai and it is popular because of its eminent distance learning programmes. To take admission in any of the course the candidate have the pass the minimum qualification criteria. Different type of degrees, certificates, diplomas are offered in Bachelors or Master Programs. At the time of inception, TNOU was having just 20 courses but now it has more than 60 courses where students can enroll themselves.
TNOU completed nine years of its life but it has shown great progress in research and education. Today, TNOU has more than 25000 students enrolled in various courses at the university. This university is the only institution in Tamil Nadu where students are eligible for scholarship worth Rs 4500 each. Apart from Chennai TNOU has established in centers in Coimbatore, Madurai, Vellore, Gandhi Gram. Applicants who are interested to take admission are require to fill the documents fully provided by the university along with self attested photographs, testimonials, birth certificates, certified category, address proofs etc.
It is one of the best universities of south, which offers best study material and complete training and research. TNOU is not an organization to make profit it is just to make sure that no one in society has sacrifice higher education due to any of its personal problems.
