Devi Ahilya University is located in the city Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India and it is also known as Indore University. This university appeared in education arena in the year 1964 under an act of legislative assembly of M.P, although the jurisdiction is limited to Indore surroundings. At the inception of the university, it was known as Indore University however in the year 1988 the name of the university was changed to Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. Vishwavidyalaya means “university” so it is called Devi Ahilya University or Indore University.
Presently, under the university jurisdiction Indore has approximately seven districts. University operates its administrative functions from Rabindranath Tagore Marg in Indore. University has an extension at Takshashila Campus on Khandwa Road, which handles all the administrative work related to the university.
More than 153 colleges from Indore division are affiliated under the university furnishing education at PG or UG level in basic and professional fields. As many as 6000 students are enrolled in the university campus and more than 120000 students are taking education from affiliated colleges.
Under the university, IMS (Institute of Management Studies) established in the year 1969 act as a management education division of DAVV (Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya) shares the duty to provide leadership in education, training and research in the field of management studies. IMS is one of the foremost top ranking institutes of the country.
Recently university started a Health Care programme in collaboration with Tulane University, New Orleans, USA. It also has collaboration with NIUA (National Institute of Urban Affairs) for research and training activities. The institute is full with dedicated highly qualified young faculty and supported by many eminent professors and visiting faculties from various industries and professionals like chartered accountants, Consultants etc. University has a strong bonding with gigantic industries, which has continuously guided and supported the needs of the university.
