Karnataka State Open University Admission 

Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is playing a pivotal role in promoting higher education in the state of Karnataka through Open distance learning system. Our nation can become a super power only when we achieve the target of higher education, which is possible only with the development of open and distance learning system. The university appeared in the year 1996 with a motto “Higher Education to Everyone Everywhere” under an act 1992 by the support of state legislative assembly members. Various educational bodies of the nation like DEC (Distance Education Council), AIU (Association of Indian Universities) has recognized the university. KSOU is supporting the professionals who cannot afford regular classes to earn degree and diplomas.

KSOU is planning to reach untouched students willing to do higher education not only in the state of Karnataka but also in the country and even overseas. For the accomplishment of the objective KSOU is establishing several regional centers in the country and in abroad. The head office of the university is located at Mysore. Existence of the university is the result of hard work done by the state government. KSOU is the eight Open University to be established in the nation.

During the academic session of 2009-10 more than one lakh students took admission in the various courses of the university from all over the country and it is expected that the number with reach to two lakh students in the years to come. Students taking higher education from the university includes Executives officers, Media persons, Writers, Technicians, Administrators, Academicians and many others in a age group of 18 to 80 years.  
  

KSOU also encourages students of Schedule Tribes and Schedule Castes by offering Fee Reimbursement under government policies or scholarships. They also have a scheme called “Muktha Sanjivini” which supports economically weaker section of students in pursuing higher education on the courses of their liking.
