Mahatma Gandhi University AdmissionOn 2 October 1983 M.G. University, also known as Mahatma Gandhi University appeared in Kottavam. NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) has provided the university ‘A’ grade certificate. Under the university, more than 223 colleges are running which spreads over five districts in Kerala. The central campus is placed in Athirampuzha,Kottayam District and having eight satellite campus.
M.G. University offers several programmes in the discipline of Gandhian Thought, Nano Science, Disability Studies and Rehabilitation, International Relations & Politics, Physics, Technology, Disaster Management, Hospital Administration, Behavioral Medicine and Rehabilitation, Journalism, Rehabilitation Nursing, Chemical Sciences including Polymer Chemistry, Environmental Sciences and Disaster Management and many other courses. Currently Dr. P.M. Rajan is in the position of Vice Chancellor. Government of Kerala and UGC grants financial aid to the university. They are also eminent members of ACU, AIU and Association of common wealth countries who represents more than 480 universities in commonwealth nations.
On an average, every year more than 150000 students take admission in various departments of UG, PG, M.Phil, or Ph.D programme in the various colleges affiliated under the university. Students have shown keen interest to built consistent image of the university through terrific performance in NCC, Sports, academic quest, games, inter university youth festivals, university cultural programmes and NSS.
University campus is located at Privadarsini Hills 4 Km away from Ettumannoor railway station and 13 kms away from Kottavam Railway station. Nearest airport to reach the campus is at Cochin which is 80 Km away. Private buses are easily available from Nagampadom bus stand. It takes around 40 minutes to reach to the destination and cost just seven rupees. M.G University is very popular outside the region. It has 72 off campus centers in which 55 are in Kerala itself, 9 outside from Kerala and having 8 centers at overseas locations.
