CSIR UGC Net Test June Exam Notice JRF Eligibility Date Form

Joint CSIR-UGC Test For Junior Research Fellowship And Eligibility for Lectureship 

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) 

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST (NET)

DATE OF SINGLE MCQ EXAMINATION : 19.06.2011

SUBJECTS OF THE TEST
The Test will be held in the subjects as given under:
1. Chemical Sciences,
2. Earth Sciences
3. Life Sciences
4. Mathematical Sciences
5. Physical Sciences

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
M.Sc. or Equivalent degree under the subjects mentioned in para 2.1 above, with minimum 55% marks for General & OBC candidates; 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates and Ph.D. degree holders who had passed Master's degree prior to 19th September 1991.
A candidate can also apply for the Test under RA (Result Awaited) category, if he/she is appearing or has appeared in his/her final year (Last Semester where Semester system is there) of M.Sc. OR equivalent Degree Examination in subjects mentioned in para 2.1 above during the academic Session 2010-2011. Such candidates will have to submit the attestation format (given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Deptt./Institute over his/her signature and rubber stamp (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared in the final year(Last Semester where Semester system is there) M.Sc. or equivalent degree examination. However, such candidates shall be admitted to the Test provisionally. They shall only be considered eligible for JRF-(NET)/LS-(NET), if they are able to produce the proof of having passed the

IMPORTANT DATES
Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the requisite percentage of marks and within the stipulated time frame.

AGE LIMIT& RELAXATION
For JRF (NET): Minimum 19 Years and maximum 28 years as on 01-01-2011 (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC(Non Creamy Layer), Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants).
For LS (NET): Minimum 19 years, as on 01.01.2011. No upper age limit.

DATE AND SCHEME OF THE TEST
The MCQ Test paper will be held in one session on Sunday, the 19th June 2011. The scheme of Examination is as under:

Paper : Single MCQ
Marks : 200
Timings : 10.00AM-1.00PM
Duration : 3 hrs

About University Grant Commission (UGC)
The University Grant Commission was incorporated under the Act of Parliament in 1956. UGC is the statutory body of India, which provides funds to the government recognized universities and colleges across the country. It has laid the cooperation in the field of higher education and universities with the implementation of the research and teaching area. UGC has a good collaboration between the Union, state government and the respective institute of higher learning.


The University Grant Commission has been authorized to implement the grants to the various university and colleges across the country. With respect to Central and State Governments, it has maintained a uniform standard that regulate the policy for the growth and development of the university in India. UGC headquater is located at New Delhi along with six regional centers in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore.

The chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and ten other members that are assigned by the central government of India have headed the university grants commission. The chairperson serves tenure of about 5yrs or until the age of 65yrs and the vice –chairperson is for 3yrs or till the age of 65yrs and the other member is for 3yrs. All member of the commission has been assigned to serve maximum two terms.

The central government has set up a plan and non-plan grants to carry out the responsibility procured by the law since, the commission was fall shortage of funds.  It distribute its overall maintenance for the university growth and  contribute to all the central Central Universities, Colleges affiliated to Delhi and Banaras Hindu Universities and some of the institutions accorded the status of ‘Deemed to be Universities’.

The developmental scheme helps State Universities, Colleges and other institutions of higher education, to stabilize its plan. Apart from this, it also provides financial help to the university and colleges with various schemes.
