CSIR-UGC NET Syllabus Subjects of the Test Exam Centre Center


NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST (NET)

Joint CSIR-UGC Test For Junior Research Fellowship And Eligibility for Lectureship 

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) 

SYLLABUS OF THE TEST
 The question paper shall be divided into three parts, (A,B & C) as per syllabus & Scheme of Exam.

# Part 'A' shall be common to all subjects. This part shall contain questions pertaining to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis and Research Aptitude.
# Part 'B' shall contain subject-related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus.
# Part 'C' shall contain higher value questions that may test the candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem.
# A negative marking for wrong answers, wherever required, shall be applicable as per scheme of Exam.

SUBJECTS OF THE TEST
The Test will be held in the subjects as given under:
1. Chemical Sciences,
2. Earth Sciences
3. Life Sciences
4. Mathematical Sciences
5. Physical Sciences

DATE AND SCHEME OF THE TEST
The MCQ Test paper will be held in one session on Sunday, the 19th June 2011. The scheme of Examination is as under:

Paper : Single MCQ
Marks : 200
Timings : 10.00AM-1.00PM
Duration : 3 hrs

To enable the candidates to go through the questions, the question paper booklet shall be distributed 15 minutes before the scheduled time of the exam. The Answer sheet shall be distributed at the scheduled time of the exam.

The Test Booklet for this test will be printed in Hindi & English Version separately. The candidate opting for Hindi medium in Column No. 5 of Application Form, will be supplied Question Booklet/Test Booklet printed in Hindi Version only and Candidate opting for English medium, will be supplied Question Booklet/Test Booklet printed in English Version only. The candidate will be required to answer as per option exercised in Column No.5 of application Form.

EXAMINATION CENTRES
The test will be held at 26 Centres spread all over India, as specified below:
Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guntur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Karaikudi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pilani, Pune, Raipur Roorkee, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur and Varanasi.

About Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) 

Brief Background
The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) was founded in the year 1942, five years before the independence of the country.  This premier Research & Development organization for the industries was constituted by the Central Legislative Assembly of India of that period.  The CSIR is functioning as an autonomous body and was registered under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860.

CSIR has evolved working process and technologies which have dispersed in the Global space and everywhere it has been recognized as the best. They are having 39 laboratories and 50 field stations / extension centers spread throughout the country. The total staff strength is around 17000. The wave of changes in the world has not left CSIR also from its flow and this organization has stepped forward for a private-public partnership. They have also reached a business agreement for the aim of some strategic advantage.

Achievement of the Organization
CSIR is having a number of feathers on its cap. In almost all the research and development matters it has been awarded with a number of awards. Some of the worth mentioning subjects covers i) Flowering in Bamboo ii) First to discover the diversity in Genetic structure of the tribes of Andaman and so many. This organization has every authority to claim the global excellence in its field and activities.
