It all started in year 1903 when Director of the Public Instruction, of Government of Bengal had introduced the two-year course of commercial studies in the Presidency College in Kolkata. Rapidly it turned into a divide Commercial Institute in the year 1905. In same year, its syllabus went thorough revision and many subjects started to be trained for meeting requirements of office assistants of time. In the year 1907, Commercial classes were transferred from the Presidency College to the 303, Bowbazar Street. The roomy building of the 285, Bowbazar Street provided the reason, however with introduction of new course for Banking as it was transferred to the 11, Hastings Street, and then to the 19, Wellesley Square with finally to the Netaji Subhas Road in the year 1928. 

The Institution lastly acquired its current position at the 210, Bepin Behari Ganguly Street, at Kolkata in the year 1951. This College has preserved its steady progress with March of time. It is the co-education institute functioning as the full daytime college. After the year 1965, the Evening Section was initiated that was later transferred to Morning section. Evening Section had the professional course for typewriting, teaching and stenography however; it was stopped after year 1996.
