Jiwaji University

Jiwaji University is a Gwalior; Madhya Pradesh based university which is also an affiliating university. The name of the university has been taken from George Jiwajirao Scindia of Gwalior. The Jiwaji University was established in 1964 of which foundation stone was laid by the Sarvapelli Radhakrishnan, the president of India at that time. The university is fully accredited by Indian Government. Many institutes of higher learning educations from 6 districts namely Morena, Guna, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind and Shivpuri of Gwalior and Chambal division are affiliated to Jiwaji University. At the start only 29 colleges were affiliated to due to the content and quality that university offers, more than 300 colleges are affiliated to it.

In the educational year of 1966-67, university started its own post graduate teaching and research; in the same year university established school of studies in Zoology and Botany. The school of studied in Chemistry, ancient history, physics, archeology and culture, started in the educational year of 1969-70. The computer science and application department came into existence in late 1995 and so do the BCA and MCA courses. Jiwaji University is the first university in the state which started providing self supporting programmes. This facility was started back in 1987 while introducing PG diploma in Computer Applications. Onwards, university also started job oriented courses in following: -

• instrumentation and commercial methods of Industrial analysis

• Molecular Biology and Immunology

• Computer science

• Refrigeration technology are being started very shortly,

• Master in computer application

• Microbiology

• Bachelor in Physical Education

• Environmental Chemistry

• Chemicals, sales and marketing management

• Master of Physical Education

The university has introduced few other courses including M.Sc. IT, M.Sc. Neuroscience, B.A. with Jyotirvigyan, M.Sc. Food Technology, M.Sc. Molecule and Human Genetics, M.Sc. Medical Plants, M.Sc. Remote Sensing etc.
