H.K. Arts College, Ahmedabad
H. K. Arts College was established in 1955 in Ahmedabad. This college is one of the most famous and well known colleges for the arts faculty in Gujarat state. This college is managed and maintained by Gujarat Vidyasabha, BrahmchariWadi Trust. Founder of this trust is Sir Alexander Kinlock Forbes who was a British officer. In the starting years, college used to offeronly arts faculty courses with various subjectsbut after few years they started offering science faculty. The main goal of the said trust is to increase development of the literature and language of the Gujarat.
H. K. Arts College has around fourteen different departments which include English, Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit, Economics, Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology, India Culture, History, Geography, Political Science and Computer Application etc. Apart from education, college also organizes various cultural events by taking the help of the students. In this way, various qualities of the students like management and organizational skills are improved to a great extent and they get to relate with the Indian culture.
H. K. Arts College has its own literature library which contains many books on the Guajarati language, translation from other languages and much more. Institution also publishes books which are based on the literature; till today more than thousand books are published by the institution. College also provides very good hostel facility for the student which belongs to other states than Ahmedabad. There are separate hostels for both girls and boys. The campus of the college is also equipped with various latest facilities like broadband internet.
