Sri Krishnadevaraya University
Sri Krishnadevaraya University was started as Post Graduate centre for Sri Venkateswara University within 1968. It has received autonomy in 1976. Fulfilling desires of people of region, this independent Post-Graduate centre was provided status of University in Year 1981. Primarily, Sri Krishndevaraya University started functioning as the unitary residential University. It was given status of the affiliating University in year 1987. Currently, it is also doing food preparation for higher educational requirements of revenue districts of Kurnool and Anantapur. Post Graduate centre in Kurnool was taken under jurisdiction of University in year 1993.
The University is presently offering research programs and Post-Graduate courses at University College in Anantapur, and at Post Graduate centre in Kurnool. The University College provides 38 post-graduate courses throughout 28 departments. 11 courses for post graduation are being organized at P.G. centre in Kurnool through their 8 departments.
Sri Krishnadevaraya University is making contribution to cause of the higher education via 112 affiliated colleges from which, 7 are exclusively meant for women. Other colleges affiliated with this University consist of 26 Colleges for Education, 2 Law Colleges, and 2 Oriental Colleges, with one Engineering College. 20 affiliated colleges underneath this University are also providing postgraduate courses for various disciplines.
Sri Krishnadevaraya University is having the facilities of undertaking the study and research via well-established laboratories and library. The students, with opportunities of academic advancement, are given with the facilities like playgrounds, outdoor stadium, E-Class Room, gymnasium, Internet, INFLIBNET, as well as computer networks for the overall personality development. Infrastructure of University also consists of Janmabhoomi Canteen, Bhuvana Vijayam Auditorium, Sabari Guest House, Adhyapak Bhavan, NSS Building, Health centre, and numerous buildings for the teaching departments as well as residential quarters.
In short period of two decades since its existence, Sri Krishnadevaraya University has achieved recognition as the centre for academic excellence. It is received the four star status from the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council).
