St Joseph’s College Bangalore

Established in 1882 by the fathers of French Foreign Mission, St Joseph’s College is one of the oldest education imparting institutions in the Bangalore. Back in the eighteen hundreds, catholic missionaries felt that Bangalore was the right place for the educational institution and purchased a plot at St John’s Hill in Bangalore which is now nothing less than a landmark. Earlier this decade St Joseph’s College moved over to the intersection of Lalbaugh road and Langford road. St Joseph’s College is located very close to Good shepherd Convent and St Patrick’s Church. St Joseph’s College has three sister institutions, viz., St Joseph’s Boys High School, St Joseph’s Evening College and St Joseph’s College of Commerce. St Joseph’s College has four buildings in the centre of Cantonment. In 2005 St Joseph’s College was awarded the academic autonomy award along with four other colleges in Bangalore. St Joseph’s College is affiliated to the Bangalore University. St Joseph’s College caters to research education, post graduate education and undergraduate education. St Joseph’s College actively supports education to those who are less fortunate. St Joseph’s College caters to over five thousand students annually with the help of over one hundred fifty faculty members. With a rich history of one hundred twenty five years, St Joseph’s College epitomizes its tradition. St Joseph’s College has four buildings in the centre of Cantonment. St Joseph’s College offers the following degree courses at the post graduate level MA in Social Work, Media Studies, Economics, Political Science and English and M.Sc. in Computer Science, Physics, Microbiology, Botany and Chemistry. St Joseph’s College offers the following degree courses at the Under graduate level, viz., Professional Courses in Bachelor of Social Work, Visual Communication, Applications, B.A. in Sociology, Economics, Industrial Relations, Political Science, History and B.Sc. in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Electronics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Zoology and Microbiology.
