University College for Women, Osmania University, Hyderabad
Osmania University for women was established in 1924, this is the one of the largest and oldest universities in India which is located at Koti, Andhra Pradesh, India. In 1988-89 the University Grant commission granted the college status of an autonomous college.The main building of the college is built by Britishand it’s a great example of architecture. In addition, the campus has 15 buildings for laboratories, classrooms, and departments. The outer side of the building has two Corinthian pillarswhich are about 40 feet tall and two lion guards are also present there comprising 60 feet space. The college is famous in the city because of large campus and is located at the center of the city.
The college has post graduate and undergraduate level courses and has about 2600 students. At under graduate level the college offers 35 subjects and at post graduate level it offers 18 courses.At Under graduate level the college offers BA, B. Sc., BCA and B. com courses. At post graduate level the college offers M. Sc. In botany, Inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physics, Biotechnology, Medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, Nutrition and dietetics, Information science, computer science and zoology; At MA level the college offers following subjects: Urdu, Telugu, Hindi, political science, and economics. The college also offers post graduate diploma in child psychology, management information system in computer application, bioinformatics, chemical analysis and quality assurance. MBA and MCA courses can also be pursued at the college.
The campus of Osmania University covers more than sixteen thousand acres of area; the university is awarded a five star rating by NAAC. The college has 2book stores which have one lakh eleven thousand books and seventy journals. The college also provides hostel facility for ladies; computer center is also connected with internet facility, apart from that sport facility is also available which includes indoor and outdoor games.
