Manipal University

Manipal University, previously known as the MAHE (Manipal Academy of Higher Education), is the deemed university, situated in the Manipal, in Karnataka state in India. It has in excess of 20,000 students from more than 50 countries. The university has its branch campuses in Mangalore, Bangalore, Malaysia, and Dubai. Manipal University has more than 22 element colleges providing different programs in Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biotechnology, Regenerative Medicine, Architecture, Allied Health Sciences, Engineering, Hospitality, Management, Mass Communication, and Jewelry design.

It was founded in the year 1953 by Dr. T. M. A. Pai. He was the first person to start a private, and self financing college providing MBBS course in India. Dr. Pai had established Kasturba Medical College in Manipal in the year 1953 as well as Manipal Institute of Technology in the year 1957, followed by the sequence of other educational institutions including the Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, and Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. TMA Pai died in the year 1979. In the year 1993, Manipal Academy of Higher Education was given the deemed university grade under the Section 3 of UGC Act 1956, through Ministry of Human Resource Development for Government of India.

Manipal University campus coats 500 acres land having 15,000 inhabitants as well as, is built on the laterite rock. Town of Manipal is converted into the university town having emphasis on the eco-friendly living with Manipal University. The Manipal University is certified as the ISO 14001:2004 institute which is the series of deliberate standards on the EMS (Environmental Management Systems), developed as well as maintained by the ISO. The family of ISO 14000 addresses the “Environmental Management".

The Manipal University has detached hostel section under Hostel Management Committee as well as is headed by the president. The Chief Warden, of MU, at Manipal Campus, is secretary of this Committee, manages the everyday aspects of the hostel management.

Manipal university is a deemed university in Manipal, Karnataka. Formerly, it was known by the name Manipal Academy of Higher Education or MAHE. More than 20,000 students from over 50 different countries are learning with its courses. The Manipal University has its campuses in Mangalore, Bangalore, Malaysia and Dubai. Over 22 colleges are affiliated to this university. Dr. T. M. A. Pai founded the university town of Manipal in 1953. He was first person in country to start the self financing private medical college offering MBBS degree. Later he also established various educational institutions such as Manipal Institute of Technology, Kasturba Medical College - Mangalore, Manipal College of Dental Sciences and last but not the least Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In 1993, Manipal University was given the status of deemed university by the ministry of human resources, government of India.

Manipal University Admission 

Today, Manipal University has become a brand name especially in the field of higher education. Dr Tonse Madhava Anantha Pai has founded Manipal University over five and half decades ago.  The university is an eminent university not just in our nation but also worldwide.  In fact, students from 52 countries are pursuing higher education from this university.
  

In the year, 1953 Dr Tonse Madhava Anantha Pai inaugurated Kasturba Medical College first private medical college, which was the first step in the formation of Manipal University. Later on, Dr Tonse Madhava Anantha Pai inaugurated various other colleges in the form of engineering, dental and pharmacy. At the inception, these colleges were under the jurisdiction of different universities.
 

Today, Dr Ramdas M Pai who is the son of Late Dr Tonse Madhava Anantha Pai is handling the position of Chancellor and President of the university.  In the year 1993 Manipal University achieved the status of deemed university under 1956 UGC act. Today the university has 20 departments of education, which consists of dental, nursing, pharmacy, Allied health, architecture, engineering, medical, communication, hotel management, regenerative medicine, management, information science, biotechnology and many more.  Manipal University offers Master, Bachelor and Doctorate degree in various disciplines. 

At the time when the university got the status of deemed university, only five colleges existed. In the last decade or so university, growth was gigantic. Manipal University always concentrated on quality education which is the reason the degree offered by the university is worldwide acceptable. University furnishes educational support to more than 17000 students under its regulative colleges. Moreover, it has active alumni of over 65000 students worldwide.
