Manipal University
Manipal university is a deemed university in Manipal, Karnataka. Formerly, it was known by the name Manipal Academy of Higher Education or MAHE. More than 20,000 students from over 50 different countries are learning with its courses. The Manipal University has its campuses in Mangalore, Bangalore, Malaysia and Dubai. Over 22 colleges are affiliated to this university. The Manipal University offers various courses or education programs in Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, Allied Health Science, Biotechnology, Engineering, Hospitality, Management, Architecture, Mass Communication, Jewellery Design and Regenerative Medicine. It has also been certified with ISO 14001:2004 certificate as it is environment friendly college.
Dr. T. M. A. Pai founded the university town of Manipal in 1953. He was first person in country to start the self financing private medical college offering MBBS degree. Later he also established various educational institutions such as Manipal Institute of Technology, Kasturba Medical College - Mangalore, Manipal College of Dental Sciences and last but not the least Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In 1993, Manipal University was given the status of deemed university by the ministry of human resources, government of India.
Manipal University has campus of over 500 acres on which more than 15,000 people live. The whole university is built on lateritic rock. The main town in which university is situated (i.e. Manipal) is converted into a university town which stresses on eco-friendly living by Manipal University. The Manipal University provides all sorts of facilities ranging right from sport facilities, student accommodation, dining facility to simulation lab.
The Manipal University has always been very keen on providing top quality knowledge and facilities to its students. So it has built 6 libraries in its campus alone. Manipal University also inspires student who have interest in research and for such student, it has research labs in various fields.
