Banaras Hindu University is locates at the Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. This is one of the largest reside University in Asia. Under the short name University calls as the BHU. The University was formed by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in 1916. The University was established under the act of Parliamentary legislation, 'B.H.U. Act of 1915'. This is public type University so comes in under the Governments acts and regulations. University has the affrication of UGC, i.e. University Grant Commission. The main objective of the University is to promote Hindu Shastras and Sanskrit literature.
University has the campus areas of around 1350 acres. The campus is built on the land which is donated by the Kashi Naresh. University also has the second campus namely as the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, the campus area of this campus is nearly 2760 acres which is the largest campus of the University. This campus is located at the Mirzapur, which is 80 kilometers away from the main campus. University offers various programmes in different faculties. Most of the programmes of the University are reside programmes. Many of the courses of University are Hindu religious oriented. Beside from that University also offers regular programmes like Engineering, Management Studies etc.
Till today around 15000 students are enroll in the Banaras Hindu University. University has around 140 different teaching departments for the different teaching programmes. University also provides very good hostel facility to the students. It has around 55 different hostels for the students. All the hostels are well maintained and offer very good food and environment. University also has good ranking in several critics’ awards for the University. The admission in Banaras Hindu the University is carried out on the national level with the help of entrance tests.
