The HIHT University was established in 1994 by H.H. Swami Rama. The HIHT in HIHT University stands for Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust. The HIHT University specializes in Medicine and has been established under the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust. The HIHT University is located at Dehradun in the state of Uttrakhand. At the HIHT University, students are not only trained to be professionals in their respective fields but also to be good human beings, human beings with ethical values and morals. There are three major departments in the University, viz., Clinical, Para Clinical and Pre Clinical. The Clinical department encompasses Orthopaedics, ENT, Opthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Anesthesiology, Surgery and allied branches, Paediatrics, Community Medicine, Radiology, Medicine and allied branches. The Para Medical department contains Pharmacology, pathology, microbiology and Forensic Medicine. The Pre Clinical department contains Physiology, Bio Chemistry and Anatomy. General Medicine and allied departments contain pulmonary medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Venerology and Leprosy, Nephrology, Neurology and Cardiology.
