Ambedkar University, Delhi
Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vishwavidyalaya or in short AUD was established by a special act of Delhi Legislature in 2008 by Government of NCT of Delhi. The university began its functioning in same year. Being a uniform and non affiliating university, its main focus is on post-graduate and under-graduate studies and in making research in social sciences and humanities. It is funded completely by Government of NCT Delhi.
Presently, Ambedkar University has two campuses in Delhi, out of which one is situated at Kashmere gate and other one is in Integrated Institute of Technology, Dwarka. You can reach the latter using blue line of metro railway and former by yellow and the red line of metro. The university has planning to develop a new campus which is located in Dheerpur in North Delhi. The new campus will occupy area of 110 acres. The planning is being made that out of 110 acres, 60 acres will contain a bio diversity park which will be themed on conservation of wetlands.
Formerly the university was located in Kashmere campus and used to be operated from there, but after some time the university was shifted to Dwarka campus and now is being operated from there. In future, when the new campus will be completed, the main center of university will be shifted to the new campus. The campus which is being built at Dheerpur is planned such that it will be energy efficient, disabled friendly and ecologically efficient. The new campus will include academic recreational, social facilities as well as residential facilities for all the students as well as teachers.
