Anna University Courses Admission
On, 4 September 1978 Anna University was established with the primary aim of educating all the masses of the society. If offers higher education in the field of Technology, allied science and Engineering to fulfill the current and future needs of the society. Apart from encouraging research and spreading knowledge worldwide, it also bridges cooperation between industrial and academic communities. The university formed by collaborating together two well known technical university in the city of Chennai (Madras). Colleges collaborated are College of Engineering, Guindy, Madras Institute of Technology, Chrompet, School of Architecture and Planning and Alagappa College of Technology.
Anna University’s is located in the southern part of the city. University spread in an area of about 100 hectares Adyar River flowing on the north and Raj Bhawan on the south enhancing the pretty view of the University. Second campus Madras institute of technology spread in an area of 20 hectares. Both campuses have several building serving the full needs of the university. Third Campus is having over 80 hectares of area and is located at Taramani near Instronic Campus. Bioprocess Laboratory, which is been donated by SPIC, is currently located in this campus and many more centers like NIFT (National Institute of Fashion technology), Sugar Research Institute, Entrepreneurship Development Park, Mechatronics Institute and Convention center are in the proposal for future to be developed under the campus.
Since 2001, Anna University has grown big and become renowned Affiliated University having 426 self-financing Engineering colleges, 6 Government colleges and three Government-aided engineering colleges in the several part of state Tamilnadu.
In the year 2002, Anna University has received Five Star status from UGC that is the highest ranking any university can attain. Anna University is also the member of Association of Indian University and partner of UNESCO International Center for Engineering Education.
