Anna University

Anna University is one of the prestigious universities in Tamil Nadu with many colleges for Allied Science, Engineering and Technology.  The University was established in the year 1978 exactly on 4th September as a unitray University. It provides perfect academic programs that suits to the current and projected demands of the industrial society. Being the best University in promoting research and propagating knowledge, the Anna University also have good connection with many academic and industrial communities which is very useful for the students who presume academic courses in this University.The Anna University was shaped by integrating two long-familiar technical institutions in Chennai, they are College of Engineering, Guindy and Madras Institute of Technology, Chrompet.

The Anna University is located in the southern part of Chennai, with 100 hectares of main campus bordering the Raj Bhavan on the south and the Adyar River on the north. The Madras Institute of Technology at Chrompet campus extends about 20 hectares. Both the campuses of the University have several buildings offering the various demands of the University community.  On December 2001, The University has become a prominent, highly renowned affiliated University, with nearly 6 Government Colleges, 225 Self-financing Engineering Colleges, and 3 Government-aided Engineering colleges situated in various places of Tamilnadu.

Later between 2007 and 2010 , the Anna University was fragmented into six different universities, which includes  Anna University, Anna University of Technology - doth located in Chennai, Anna University of Technology, Madurai, Anna University of Technology in Coimbatore, Anna University of Technology in Tiruchirappalli, and  Anna University of Technology in Tirunelveli. Additionalyl the Adyar Campus of the University has Bioprocess Laboratory donated by SPIC  and in near future it will also hold some centers for advanced academic courses, such as Sugar Research Institute, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Entreprenuership Development Park, Mechatronics Institute, and Convention Centre. These centers are purely job oriented centers which helps the students to develop their practical knowledge on their respected fields.
