Sikkim Manipal University (SMU)

Sikkim Manipal University was established in 1995 with unique partnership between the Manipal Education and the Government of Sikkim. This is the first government-private University in the region that is this is the first Public-private University. The main objective of this University is to provide best education to the students as it accepts students in and around Inida. After the certification of University Grants Commission, Sikkim Manipal University became one of the preferred Universities among students. 

The campus of this University is the key feature as it situated in Majitar and Rangpo, between the beautiful River Teesta and Kanchendzonga mountains. Sikkim Manipal University has two important institutes one is Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences and the other is Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology.  By offering healthcare to the public, the University serves the second largest hospital in Sikkim which is considered as most sensible feature of this University.

The medical campus of the University offers academic programs on medical, medicine, allied health, pharmacy, and nursing. And the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology campus runs all engineering and management courses. Not merely that this technology campus also holds Twinning Programmes and Applied Sciences too.

Apart from medical and technology, the Sikkim Manipal University also runs College of Physiotherapy, College of Nursing and a separate School of Basic & Applied Sciences. With the rank of 8th Best University Engineering Colleges of India, Sikkim Manipal University has excellent, library, faculty, management and other staff members. The labs of all departments are another key feature of this University.  

With 25,000 students, the Sikkim Manipal University has partnered with many companies and industries to create industrial oriented courses to make their students eligible candidate for work. The University also provide Distance Education Courses for nearly  3,00,000 students from about 52 different countries through satellite-based lectures and 725+ learning centres in and around  India .
