St Teresa College Kochi
Established in 1925 by the Carmelite Sisters of St Teresa, St Teresa College is one of the oldest colleges in Kochi, Kerala, India. St Teresa College is well known in Kerala for its continuous progress in the field of education for women. The college is named after a sixteenth century saint, St Teresa of Avila who serves to be a role model for the students of St Teresa College. St Teresa College aims towards not only educating individuals but making them socially committed, spiritually enlightened, truly liberated, morally responsible, emotionally mature and intellectually creative individuals who are ready to ready to play their role in the society. St Teresa College is affiliated with the Mahatma Gandhi University and offers various post graduate and undergraduate courses. St Teresa College also offers some vocational and add-on courses. Undergraduate courses are provided in the following fields of study, viz., Commerce, Home Science, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Sociology, History, English and economics. Post graduate courses on the other hand are provided in the fields of physics, home science, botany, sociology, economics and English. Post graduate diploma courses are offered in in Fashion designing and apparel and clinical nutrition and diet. Vocational courses at St Teresa College include B.Sc. Computer Application and BA Communicative English. St Teresa College also has a tie up with IGNOU for distance learning courses. Add on courses include computer animation and designing, tourism, foreign languages like French, Spanish, etc. St Teresa College has good infrastructure for its students. The college has a huge auditorium, a library which houses a large number of books, a computer lab for computer education and internet access, a large biology laboratory and a sports ground. St Teresa College encourages its students to take part in extracurricular activities and showcase their talent.
