SRM University
Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University is popularly known as SRM University, it is a one of the top private University in India. This co-educational private university exactly located in Tamil Nadu, India. Till 2003, this University was functioned as SRM Engineering College under Anna University, then after 2004, the instituted earned deemed status and named as SRM University.Later in 2006, the University again gained the status of full-fledged university under UGC Act 1956. The SRM University has about 4 campuses which is located in Tamil Nadu and one more campus in Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh
In Tamil Nadu, the SRM University holds about 4 campuses, they are Kattankulathur Campus, Ramapuram Campus, and Vadapalani Campus are located in Chennai city and the other is located in Trichy. The Kattankulathur Campus is the main campus of the University with 38 blocks in 300 acres of land area. The main campus has SRM Medical College, SRM General Hospital, SRM Arts & Science College, SRM Polythenic College, SRM Kattankulathur Dental College, Valliammai Polythenic College, Valliammai Engineering College, the Hi-Tech Block, the Mechanical Block, the Electrical Sciences Block, the Biotech block, IT Park with 15 floors , an Auditorium which holds about 4500-seats, Hi-tech Central Library and a Cafeteria.
This campus also holds Banks for student’s convenience, a three star SRM Hotel with excellents rooms, swimming pool and bar facilities, and a Restaurant. Recently, the University has opened a Central Library which covers 4 floors with millions of book, journals, periodicals and Internet. Apart from this, the University is also planned to open a Multipurpose Indoor Stadium soon, the construction is under process and the estimation for this stadium is about Rs.17.6 crores
Ramapuram Campus of the University holds dental college, five academic blocks on about 25 acres. Being the smallest of the SRM campuses, the Vadapalani Campus has faculty of engineering and technology, faculty of MCA, faculty of management sciences, and the Sivaji Ganesan Film Institute. And Trichy Campus of the University holds a medical College.
