Symbiosis International University was established in the 2002 which is a private co-educational University. It is located in the Pune city, which is well known as ‘Homeland of Education’, situated in state Maharashtra.  NAAC has given A grade to the university and it is approved by UGC and AICTE. It has motto ‘The world is one family’ and it is followed by this University which is managed by Symbiosis Society. 

The society was founded in 1971 to help increase interaction between foreign and Indian students. It was given autonomous grade in year 2002 and since then it has opened many institutes associated to it. Symbiosis society opened their first institute under their management which was affiliated to Pune University.

In 2002, it gained “Deemed to be University” status by MHRD but due to excellence in academic field, they are honored as “Symbiosis International University”. University offers over 70 programmes including 117 courses by its institutes. Various categories offered at institute are Telecom Management, Law, Computer Studies, Health Science and much more.

Society has numerous campuses on different locations spread across city, state and one campus located at Banglore. Every campus has multiple institutes which offer academic studies of different subjects like IT, Business management, etc. They are looking forward to establish campuses at Hyderabad, Noida outside state and two more around home city. Overall, it has 19 institutions affiliated to it till date.

Registration Procedure:

The applicant is required to download and fill up the application form and pay Rs. 500 (Rupees Five Hundred only) towards registration fees. To download the application form click here.

This payment of Rs. 500 (Rupees Five Hundred only) should be made through a Demand Draft in favour of 'Director, Symbiosis School of Economics' payable at Pune.

The application form, duly filled, and the demand draft, along with photocopies of class XII mark sheet and a certificate of SC / ST / Differently Abled / Kashmiri Migrant (if applicable) should be sent to the following address latest by 17th of June, 2011:

Eligibility Qualification

Any graduate with exposure to Economics/Mathematics/Statistics/Physics are welcome. B.Tech and B.E. graduates may also apply. Graduates from any statutory university with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) at graduation level.

Students appearing for final year examinations can apply but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) at qualifying examination.

Reservation of seats

The following will be reservation rules that shall be followed while admitting Indian Students:

About Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE)

The first institutions belonging to the Symbiosis Society were established in 1971, and were affiliated to the University of Pune. Established in 1971 under the patronage of S. B. Mujumdar, President and Founding Director, the Symbiosis Society is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust, Act, 1950. The Principal Director of Symbiosis Society is Mrs. Dr.Vidya Yeravdekar.

In 2002, as part of a larger program to grant autonomy to institutions of academic excellence, the Ministry of Human Resources Development conferred the "Deemed to be University" status on three institutes under the Symbiosis umbrella - the Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) and Symbiosis Society's Law College.

In 2006 the University Grants Commission withdrew the word "Deemed" and renamed the institution as "Symbiosis International University".

Admission Procedure - B.Sc. Economics

It is mandatory to appear for the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) for admission to SSE.

The applicant will receive a prospectus from Symbiosis International University.

The applicant is required to fill up an on-line application form at the website of SSE – www.sse.ac.in – and pay Rs. 1000/-to become eligible for admission to SSE.

The payment of Rs.1000/- can be made by any one of the two options-

Demand Draft – (Kindly mention your name and the SET ID number on the back of the Demand Draft)

Credit Card or Net Banking.

The payment can be made in favour of ‘Director, Symbiosis School of Economics’ payable at Pune.

Selection is done on the basis:

SET score

Based on the SET score, the institute will conduct a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) for the short listed students. The short-listed candidates will get a call for the Personal Interview and Group Discussion

The candidates can give their preference location for GD/PI process at either of the three centres, (provided there are a minimum of 20 candidates)

About Symbiosis
