University of Delhi

The University of Delhi is a central university which is located in Delhi, India and it is funded by Indian Government. This is one of the old universities, and it was established in 1922. It provides academic courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate level and it has been ranked 371 by the THES - QS world universities ranking in the year 2010.The Delhi University’s first convocation was held in the Old Secretariat Assembly Hall on 26 March 1923 and it had about 750 invitees.

The Delhi University has two campuses, one is north campus and the other is south campus as it located in the northern and southern part of the urban center. The north campus is located near the Delhi metro station, called as Vishwavidyalaya and the north campus is 7.0 km from ISBT and 2.5 km from Delhi Vidhan Sabha  .

Recently, the University has laid fibre-optic network by connecting all departments and colleges from both North and the South Campuses. At present, the University holds about 65 colleges in which twenty five of these colleges are connected to the South Campus and the others to the North Campus. The South Campus of this university was established in 1973 to alleviate access for the occupants of South Delhi, and then in 1984 it was relocated to its present location, that is near Dhaula Kuan, Benito Juarez Road. Now, the Campus is covers around 69 acres of green, hilly terrain and the buildings of this Campus are blended attractively with the natural milieu.

The Campus has various departments in the Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Inter-disciplinary and the Faculty of Arts. And it also has S.P. Jain Centre for Management Studies in its Campus. Apart from these, the South Campus has a Health Care Centre, a good library, DTC Pass Section, a Post Office, a Bank, examination and administrative blocks. Residential quarters for faculty members and other staffs are also present in this Campus.
