The University of Delhi is a central university which is located in Delhi, India and it is funded by Indian Government. This is one of the old universities, and it was established in 1922. It provides academic courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate level and it has been ranked 371 by the THES - QS world universities ranking in the year 2010.The Delhi University’s first convocation was held in the Old Secretariat Assembly Hall on 26 March 1923 and it had about 750 invitees.

The Delhi University has two campuses, one is north campus and the other is south campus as it located in the northern and southern part of the urban center. The north campus is located near the Delhi metro station, called as Vishwavidyalaya and the north campus is 7.0 km from ISBT and 2.5 km from Delhi Vidhan Sabha  .

Recently, the University has laid fibre-optic network by connecting all departments and colleges from both North and the South Campuses. At present, the University holds about 65 colleges in which twenty five of these colleges are connected to the South Campus and the others to the North Campus. The South Campus of this university was established in 1973 to alleviate access for the occupants of South Delhi, and then in 1984 it was relocated to its present location, that is near Dhaula Kuan, Benito Juarez Road. Now, the Campus is covers around 69 acres of green, hilly terrain and the buildings of this Campus are blended attractively with the natural milieu.

The Campus has various departments in the Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Inter-disciplinary and the Faculty of Arts. And it also has S.P. Jain Centre for Management Studies in its Campus. Apart from these, the South Campus has a Health Care Centre, a good library, DTC Pass Section, a Post Office, a Bank, examination and administrative blocks. Residential quarters for faculty members and other staffs are also present in this Campus.

The department of computer science was established in Delhi University in the year of 1981 with one goal to provide quality education in computer science field. As now technology is growing rapidly and almost everywhere computer is being used, hence it is very necessary to educate students about this sector so they can fulfill the ever-growing need of in IT field. 

Admission procedure

Eligibility criteria
B.Sc. Computer Science from 12+2+3 educational scheme from any recognized university from India with at least 60% in aggregate.
The candidates who have appeared for the last degree exam can also appear.

Interested candidate must be at least of 20 years before the first day of October. Vice chancellor can relax the age limit up to one year in special cases. Only 50% of the students are filled through entrance exam while rest 50% seats are filled on the basis of merit B.Sc. (H) Computer Science, Examination of Delhi University.

The exam comprises of two parts, viz. part with objective type questions and part with Comprehensive questions. The students who successfully pass examination with good marks are called for interview; after completing which admission is given.

The university is not only famous in India but it also has received 371th rank among all the universities in the world by THES - QS world universities ranking in the year 2010. Due to the quality of courses and other amenities offered by university, many students are getting attracted towards it and thus it is little tough, getting admission to various courses offered by university.

However, due to this situation, University of Delhi conducts an entrance test for almost all the courses, which is followed by interview in some cases. Delhi University conducts entrance test for both MCA as well as M.Sc. Computer Science courses. The test basically has two parts. One part deals with quantitative and mathematical ability and other deals with deductive and logical ability.

The first section of the exam comprises of questions on calculus, algebra, geometry (2D as well as 3D), statistics, linear programming and real analysis whereas other section consists of problem solving, algorithms, flow charts and interpretation of data. Depending upon the result of this exam, admission is given to the candidates for the said courses. The admission is strictly given on the basis of merit. Only some seats are reserved for the students from reserved categories. Also students are required to have minimum 60% marks aggregate in their respective graduation courses failing to obtain which a student will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

Eligibility criteria for MCA admission
Only those candidates can appear for the entrance test, which have passed B.Sc. under 10+2+3 educational system from any recognized university from India and have minimum 60% in every vital exam.

Procedure one should follow –

Application form and information brochure of entrance exam can be purchased from department. Candidates have to pay Rs. 800 (in case of general category) and Rs. 400 (in case of reserved category) while purchasing the form in the form of DD. DD should be drawn in the favor of Registrar, University of Delhi, payable at New Delhi. The university cannot be held responsible for any postal delays or postal loss.

Candidates can also get the application form delivered by post, but to avail this facility, one has to send an application with a DD in a stamped envelope with self address written on it. This application should be sent to the address “Office–In charge, Room No.113, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, University of Delhi, Delhi -110007”.

The entrance exam is designed so as to evaluate candidate’s knowledge of English language and verbal ability, current affairs and general knowledge, data interpretation, logical reasoning, quantitative & mathematical aptitude and understanding of comprehension.

The admission process for distance education BA course starts somewhere around in the month of June. The information brochure along with admission form can be purchased at the University of Delhi campus. Candidates willing to opt for this course must meet the eligibility criteria set by the university. The candidates must have passed 12th standard examination. While taking admission in some colleges, minimum 40% marks are required in 12th; in some colleges no such condition is placed. No entrance exam is conducted for the admission in this course except for BA with English course. Hence admission can be taken directly after filling all the necessary forms for BA with all other subjects except English.

Delhi University DU BA Hons Journalism Admission cut-off Form list

Delhi University BA (Hons) Journalism was commenced in the year 1989. Initially, this course was started by the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce and currently there are 5 colleges that come under DU that offers BA (Hons) in Journalism course.  The main aim behind providing this course is to make students aware about real society and bring out the best from them journalism.  There are five colleges which offer BA (Hons) Journalism. These are Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Kamla Nehru College, Maharaja Agrasen College, Kalindi College and Lady Shri Ram College.

Students who need to apply for this course need to appear for the entrance exam conducted by the university and according to the merit list admission are being done.  The schedule of journalism entrance exam C-JET is provided on website of DU or respected college.

Eligibility for BA (Hons) Journalism:
Student need to be 10+2 pass out from recognized state board in Delhi with at least 60% marks in English and 70% aggregate.
