Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)

Jawaharlal Nehru University is one of the popularly Universities in India. It is situated in New Delhi, The main focus of the University is research oriented postgraduate University and holds about 5,500 students with nearly 550 faculty members. he Jawaharlal Nehru University was established by an act of parliament n the year 1969. The name of the University is the India's first Prime Minister Name Jawaharlal Nehru and importantly it was founded by Nehru's daughter, Indira Gandhi.

The objective this University is to build the university as a premier institution of education and also to develop the research and education academics to increase the standard of the education. The university tend to do all possible way to make their students engaged in educational activities and the teachers of this University is also well-trained. The university was built in red bricks in the mid-twentieth century and it is considered as good example for new red brick universities .

The main campus of the Jawaharlal University holds about 1000 acres, the specialty of this campus is that it not only occupies some parts Aravalli Hills but also maintains large patches of forestland and homes about 200 different species of birds and other animals such as Common Palm Civet, jackals, Indian Crested Porcupines, and also large number of snakes.

The library of the University is one of the key components as it has nine-floors which is located in middle of the academic block. With large number of books, research journals, newspapers, reading rooms, computer terminals, the library plays a important role in the education of students. Another important component of the Jawaharlal University is the cerebral and cultural life of the campus with 5 hotels for boys and girls and it also holds separate hostels for married women. Recently, with the help of Wipro, the university has been modernizing by moving into next step that is ‘paperless Communication’, a wireless network has been created to connect the students and the teachers to the University’s library.
