University of Madras

Being one of the oldest Universities in India, the University of Madras is a perfect place for all students around the world to presume their undergraduate and postgraduate and research studies. University of Madras was established in 1857 in Chennai, Tamilnadu. The University has won many awards and certificates for its academic performances, some important credentials includes five star rating with ‘A’ group by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)  and potential for excellence by UGC.

The university is exactly located in the southern city of Chennai and it is spread with four campuses, namely Guindy, Marina,Taramani and Chepauk. This University has more than 40 departments on various subjects. All the four campuses of Madras University offer teaching and research programs which are highly appreciated by students and also by public. 

The 68 Departments of study and research have expanded in 4 Campuses with 18 Schools and each School provides Ph.D. Programmes, Post Graduate Courses, Diploma and Certificate Programmes. This University also has part time Ph.D. Programmes which is an additional feature. The University of Madras also helps students who can not take up the regular classes by offering Distance Education courses through Open University facility. The Madras University is one of the most preferred universities and it is specially known for courses like Marketing Management, Financial Management, Operations Management, Human Resource Management, and System Management.

Another notable feature of the University of Madras is the historical monument, Senate House which is considered as one of the monuments and landmarks of Chennai. It is the University's first building, which was inaugurated in 1869. The Senate House is a wonderful masterpiece of Robert Fellowes Chisholm, who built this building in Indo-Saracenic style. And in 2006, the university renovated the Senate House again to retain its glory.  A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, C. V. Raman and R. Venkataraman are some of the notable Alumni of University of Madras.
